Drink of the Week for Feb 15th, 2001: Melon Pants
What we had to say
We are very excited about launching Drinknation. Our staff has been agonizing for the last week, trying to think of the best way to start off our "Drink of the Week" in a way that somehow ties into our site launch and would stand out from subsequent drinks of the week.
Of course, we kicked around the ideas of sending recipes for classics such as martinis, pinã coladas and margaritas, but apart from being totally cliché, that contradicted the aim of drink of the week. Our aim, of course, is to send out recipes for less well-known but utterly delicious drinks in order to share the love. Er, the drinks. Recipes. Yes.
Anyhow, a nervous intern had somehow escaped and found his way into the meeting chamber without notice. He nervously piped up from behind the fridge that we should invent our own drink to commemorate the occasion.
After sending him back to the mines, we seriously considered the prospect - it made sense. So we tried it, and amazingly, our experiments worked - and they tasted not too bad. So without further yaks, (yes, the big hairy kind), we present our inaugural drink of the week, the Drinknation special: Melon Pants!
Melon Pants Drink Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Liqueur, melon
- 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
- 1 1/2 oz. Margarita Mix
How to Make It
Fill a collins glass with ice. Add the ingredients and stir. Garnish with a chunk of watermelon if desired.
If you have frozen margarita mix (or a blender and some ice), you could always try making a Frozen Melon Pants. Let us know how it goes.
