Backdraft #2 Drink Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Drambuie
- 1 oz. Grand Marnier
- 3-6 dashes Cinnamon
How to Make It
Add Grand Marnier to a large shot glass and place in the center of a saucer. Add 1 or 2 shots of Drambuie to a pint glass and swirl to coat the sides. Light the Drambuie on fire and allow it to burn until the sides of the pint glass are warm to the touch. Pour the flaming Drambuie (carefully) into the shot glass, igniting the Grand Marnier. You must hold the pint glass upside down above the flames to catch the alcohol vapor coming off the burning liquors.
Now sprinkle cinnamon (or black pepper for a "Pepperdraft") into the flames. It will ignite when you do this. When approximately 3-6 shakes have been dispensed, lower the pint glass over the flaming liquid to extinguish the flames. Anything outside of the glass will need to be gently blown out.
Remove pint glass and place 2 or 3 ice cubes quickly inside, and have it sealed immediately with the palm of someone's hand (the bartender). Shake the pint glass to cool... the alcohol vapors will condense inside the glass.
The drinker now downs the shot, then slips a straw through the bartender's fingers into the pint glass and sucks up the alcohol vapors, then finally uses the straw to suck up the liquors remaining in the saucer.
The ice cubes (with condensed alcohol on them) may be eaten if desired.

Aug 5th, 2008Good recipe, this sounds like the real deal. I had one in a bar in Dunedin, NZ once and it was really good. They used Chartreuse in the pint glass and Galliano Sambuca for the shot. Really good. Cheers
