How to Make It

Crush the coffee bean and squeeze the juice from the lemon. (For true "coraje" among you, add a little lemon zest.) Heat lemon juice (and zest), coffee grains, and rum. Pour into a fresh cup of black coffee. Add espresso. Stir if desired and enjoy.

Carjillo is a traditional Spanish drink. During the Spanish occupation of Cuba troops combined coffee with rum or brandy to give them courage ("coraje").
