Nov 23rd, 2012I am putting together a Power Point presentatiion of the various versions. Note that the real problem was Don invented it one day and didn't make it again for at least a week. Over the years he changed it at least twice. On top of that there apparently was a drink already called a zombie at the time that he wasn't aware of. So far out of over a dozen recipies, I haven't seen the one I drank in Ft Lauderdale at spring break in the 80s. That one definately had Apricot brandy, triple sec. And the bartender said it contained "7 shots of alcohol".(not including the lace of 151) and several ounces of fruit juice. There were 3 different rums (not counting the 151). So I get 2 oz of White rum, 1 dark spiced rum, 1 gold rum, 1/2 apricot brandy, 1/2 triple-sec are certain. The juices were at least lemon, lime, orange, and pineapple + grenadine. lace of 151 (1/4 oz which = the equiv of 1/2 oz of regular rum. what else I don't quite know. Many recipes include either almond liquor or almond syrup. nearly every list includes at least some of these.

Feb 14th, 2011There are so so many variations of this drink because its creator, Don the Beachcomber kept it a secret for year, and as a result heaps of variations sprung up as people tried to imitate the popular drink. Heres how I make it and I beleive it has a close resemblance to the real thing. 1 oz white rum, 1 oz gold rum, 1 0z Triple Sec, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1/2 oz lime juice, 1 1/2 oz orange juice, 1 1/2 passionfruit pulp Shaken, and strained onto ice, topped with float of OP rum

Sep 15th, 2008I thought it was light rum, dark rum, dash of angastora bitters, fill with half oj and pinnapple and then top with 151 rum. And cherry garnish, isn't it...? That's what I was thought at a bar.
