A black-eyed susan the flower, grows by a road side or wild in pastures - sort of a peasant's version of a rose. This drink is over-dressed for the party. Too heavy for the month of May, and too intense for a horse-race. Better suited to sipping by the fire, while waiting for one's future Triple Crown winner to foal in one's heated stable. The more pedestrian version of the Black-Eyed Susan with rum, fruit juices and lime is a lighter and more appropos beverage for the second jewel in the Triple Crown.
